OUR STORY
FROM JEAN MELTZER
Founder & CEO, Jewish Joy LLC
Hi, I'm Jean. Many people know me as “The Queen of Jewish Romance.” Personally, I prefer to think of myself as “The Queen of Jewish Joy.” Since publishing my debut internationally bestselling novel, The Matzah Ball, I’ve been committed to sharing stories that celebrate and uplift Jewish life in all its rich and diverse beauty. But it was October 7th, and rising antisemitism along with increased isolation for Jewish creatives, that my mission evolved into a broader calling.
I founded Jewish Joy LLC to create spaces—both virtual and in-person—where Jews could gather, connect, and celebrate our identity and culture with pride. From The Jewish Joy Book Club to The Jewish Joy Box (the first subscription box for Jewish books and culture), we’ve built a community rooted in joy, resilience, and belonging.
It has been profoundly rewarding to witness how this simple yet meaningful act of connection—sharing a story, opening a box, joining a conversation—can uplift and empower individuals, especially in challenging times. Our work not only inspires readers, but also supports Jewish authors and small Jewish businesses, helping to sustain the creative and cultural fabric of our community.
Today, Jewish Joy LLC continues to grow, with new initiatives, collaborations, and events that expand our mission: to amplify Jewish joy and storytelling across every platform. Whether you’re here for the books, the culture, the community—or all of the above—we’re so glad you’ve found us.
